Silversmith Guild website launches in July 2016!

Excitement at being able to present the Silversmiths' Guild of Canterbury to a wider online audience!

Now the website is live... the real work begins:

We have Classes to fill...
Check out our class listings to join in! You can choose from a 10 week class in term three, or an 8 week class in term four. We run classes on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, and Thursday mornings. There are three types of classes to choose from:

  • Level 1 : is and entry level class for all abilities, including beginners.
  • Level 2 : is for those who have completed our Level 1 class, or who can show that they have done a course elsewhere that has covered the necessary beginner silversmith skills.
  • Level 1 & 2 : this is a combined class that we run on Thursday mornings, welcoming both Level 1 and Level 2 students.

We have Workshops to plan...
Guild members get to participate in monthly workshops! We have some wonderful members, and the occasional special guest, all offering their specialist skills and kindly devoting their time to planning and running weekend workshops. We have been privileged to have experienced a huge variation of workshops in the past, from tool making, etching, wax carving, cuttlefish casting and much more. Members - keep an eye out for the upcoming workshops and be sure to contact the relevant person to book your place!

We have a Calendar to keep up to date...
There is a lot going on and we need to let our members know about it! It is also for the interest of potential students and potential members that we present all the great things that you can be involved in. We don't note all our class times on the calendar - as it would clutter it up too much, but I will try to note starting dates and times for the first classes of each term.

We have Galleries to fill...
We have so many photos still to be added, so make sure you check back for updates and to view new photos. Still to come are more photos of our members work, photos of recent students work, photos of previous workshops and exhibitions.

We welcome any queries to the Guild, simply send us a brief message through our Contact Page, anytime. Please note that our Guild is a non-profit organisation and is run by volunteers, so please be patient for your reply. Simply send us another message if you don't hear from us within a few days.

We hope you enjoy our new website and thanks for reading!
~ Crystal Mathieson.
